On March 8th, 2025, Kampala streets came alive with sneakers, sweat, and serious girl power. The third edition of the Women’s Day Run brought together more than 200 runners, walkers, cheerleaders, and kids — all moving for one powerful cause: keeping girls in school through the Mercy Line menstrual kit program.
And wow, did we move the needle. Together, we raised UGX 9.2 million, almost double last year’s total, funding hundreds of reusable menstrual kits that will last up to two years. That’s not just pads — that’s dignity, education, and opportunity for Ugandan girls who might otherwise miss class every single month.
The Highlights 🎉
- Distances from 3 km to 16 km meant everyone — from first-timers to seasoned runners — found their stride.
- The youngest runner? Just 8 years old. The oldest? 61. Proof that age has nothing on attitude.
- Finish line vibes were unbeatable: music, dancing, cold drinks, and plenty of sweaty selfies.

The Why 🙌
Uganda still faces a sobering fact: 1 in 10 girls miss school during their period. That’s why we lace up. Every shilling raised at the Women’s Day Run goes straight to Mercy Line, helping girls stay in classrooms where they belong.
What’s Next? 🚀
The Women’s Day Run was just the start. We’re already looking ahead to 2026, when we aim to bring an event filled with all the things we’ve come to appreciate and love about this event. And for the first time, we’ll add another date to the calendar: the Mother’s Day Run in May 2026 — family-focused, community-powered, and supporting an athletic scholarship fund.
Until then, keep running, keep talking, and keep showing up for girls and women. Because together, we don’t just run — we activate.
