Our story
Mark your calendars: Sunday, 10th May 2026 will be the very first Mother’s Day Run Uganda.
Every second Sunday of May, we’ll gather to celebrate mothers by doing what we love — moving together.
But Mother’s Day Run has its own twist: it’s built for the whole family. Expect a morning of running, laughter, and special treats for mums, followed by conversations about navigating the ever-demanding role of motherhood while staying active and healthy.
The Mother’s Day Run celebrates motherhood in all its forms: the strength, the chaos, the juggling act, the joy. We want to give mothers a space to move, be celebrated, and connect — while also inspiring families to support them.
And we run with purpose. Each year, the Mother’s Day Run supports the Athletic Scholarship Program — a fund to help talented children harness their sporting gifts. Because so often, the next star athlete isn’t far away; they’re right in our communities, missing opportunities simply because of financial barriers.
The fund will support kids with what they need most to grow in sport: gear, training, travel, camps, and tournament fees. Applications will be open, and support will go where it makes the most difference.
What you need to know
What exactly is the Mother’s Day Run?
It’s a timed fun run held every second Sunday of May — on Mother’s Day. Distances range from 3 km to 16 km, designed to be accessible for families of all ages. The first edition takes place on 10th May 2026.
What’s the cause?
Every Each Mother’s Day Run supports the Athletic Scholarship Program, a fund designed to help talented children pursue their sporting dreams.
In Uganda, countless kids show early promise in athletics but never get the chance to develop it. A gifted runner might miss out on competing simply because their family can’t afford a pair of spikes, transport to a meet, or training fees. Talent is there — opportunity is not.
That’s where the scholarship fund comes in. The money raised goes directly to what these kids need most:
- Sports gear (shoes, kits, equipment)
- Training support (coaches, gym time, mentorship)
- Travel expenses (getting to camps, trials, and tournaments)
- Competition costs (entry fees, camp fees, exposure)
Every shilling raised through the Mother’s Day Run becomes an investment in the next generation of athletes — ensuring that raw talent doesn’t get lost just because of financial barriers.
Who can join?
Everyone! This run is especially for families — mums, dads, kids, aunties, uncles, grandparents. If you can jog or walk a few kilometers, you’re welcome. Bring your loved ones.
