On March 8th, 2024, we gathered for the second Women’s Day Run — this time at Bushpig in Kololo, after our inaugural start in Muyenga. The change of venue gave us room not just to run, but to connect.
156 participants showed up, choosing distances between 3 km and 16 km. But this run has never really been about the numbers. It’s about what happens when women — and the people who support them — come together. It’s about creating a space where women can move freely, share stories, and talk openly about the realities of running, fitness, and life.
The impact stretched beyond the track. Together we raised UGX 5 million for the Mercy Line menstrual kit program, helping girls stay in school and reminding us why this movement exists in the first place.
What made 2024 special
- A stronger sense of community: runners stayed long after their distances were done, to eat, laugh, and talk.
- A space where women’s voices led the conversation — from the road to the breakfast table.
- A reminder that running can be both personal and collective, a way to take up space and support others at the same time.
The Women’s Day Run isn’t designed to be the biggest or flashiest race on the calendar. It’s designed to be ours: intentional, welcoming, and powerful in its simplicity.
See you next year!
